Projects Goal

The goal for NIMS is to develop a wearable, medical sensor suite to monitor multiple physiological and physical parameters in order to support Battlefield medics and First Responders in providing front-line casualty care. It will also provide automated input to the Army’s Battlefield Medical Information System – Telemedicine (BMIST).

Project Status

NIMS is currently in its second phase of development. Currently it remotely displays information on heart rate, respiration rate, skin temperature, activity level and body orientation with plans to provide information on ballistic impact and the presence of impaired pulmonary function.
