Sniper Location
Goal
The goal for Acoustic Gunshot Detection is to develop, test, integrate and field a soldier-wearable passive, acoustic system that will detect and localize the source of sniper fire, and automatically warn and provide the location to the individual ground warrior, as well as unit leaders.
Status
The Early Attack Reaction System (Ears®) which focused on reducing system form factor is currently in its final phase of development and testing. The Soldier Wearable Acoustic System (SWATS®) effort is now underway to apply the the system specifically to a soldier-wearable application.
